July 4th Weekend

Our family left on Thursday morning to go camping for a couple of nights. We arrived at the campground we had reserved and found it to be small with no shade, not good for tent camping. We decided to find another place. We found a campground called Last Chance campground about 15 minutes from McCall. We had fun the first night and the next morning going on a hike. Lane was a trooper and walked about 3 1/2 miles of the 4 miles. While walking back, we heard a bird chirping and Lane said, "Do you hear that?" and I answered, "What is it?" Lane said, "A creature, a big creature." I said, "Maybe it is a bird." Lane said, "Yeah, maybe a bird creature." Once we returned to camp we had lunch and the boys were playing when Lane tipped backward on his trike right onto his head in the gravel. He got a few cuts, one really bad one. We decided it needed stitches. As we were getting ready to go Owen also fell in the gravel face first and suffered a few scrapes and bloody nose. I think it was a sign to head home. So we took Lane to the ER in McCall and they placed two staples in his head. The doctor said we could do that or 6 stitches, which would take longer and be more painful, hence we went with the staples. Lane was super good the whole time, again what a trooper. We went back to our campsite and packed up to head home. We didn't know how Lane's pain would be and thought home would be the best place. We came home, bathed, ate dinner, unpacked, and went to the drive-in to see Night at the Museum. The boys had fun and keep talking about watching the big movie in the van. On the 4th, I made a special red, white, and blue breakfast, blue pancakes with red rhubarb syrup, red scrambled eggs, and white milk. We went to the parade in Vale that afternoon and to the fireworks in Ontario that night. The boys thought the fireworks were awesome. That sums up our weekend.
